Jitka was born in Prague.
After qualifying as a doctor of medicine in 1984 she started teaching anatomy at Masaryk University in Brno and it was at this time she set up her first studio.
Jitka moved to London in 1985 and studied Ceramics at Croydon College of Art & Design.
For ten years she worked as a freelance artist, exhibiting in England and abroad.
Returning to the Czech Republic in 1995 to teach, Jitka continued to concentrate on developing her drawing and painting skills.
She now lives and works in Bristol and has exhibited in England, Europe and USA.
Her work is in private and public collections including Musee National de Ceramique, Paris.
